Transgender Personalities in History, from the 15th Century to the 1860s

Since humankind began to define the boundaries of gender behavior, there have been people who defied or crossed over those boundaries. Hear their stories. Some of them were male to female, others of them were female to male. Some of them lived as transgender for most of their lives, others for only brief but significant periods in their lives. All of them left a legacy of some sort.

Melissa Morton is a former attorney and accountant who has been interested in history for many years. Attending a lecture about Civil War spies inspired her to a study of many transgender persons across multiple centuries and countries.
